Atash, my first dog, is a Persian greyhound (Saluki). He is named after his red-coloured fur, as Atash in Persian means fire.

He is very calm and enjoys it most when lying on the couch or a thick Persian rug. His lively character is revealed mainly outside when he is free to run in nature. At the beginning of November 2018, he turned 8 years old, and a month later we officially became a therapy pair at the PET Institute. Our therapy path began several years earlier, however, in 2015. Due to his love for people and desire to work, I started looking for a suitable activity on the Internet and came across therapy with the assistance of dogs.
So I came across the PET Institute website and got in touch with them. After the necessary formalities, I was assigned a mentor Dunja, who with her rich experience took me on a path of volunteer work, for which I am grateful to today. We started working at the Pediatric Clinic in Ljubljana in the pedo-psychiatric department, where we visited the children for two years.

In the meantime, I enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine, Department for physical and rehabilitation medicine, which was also one of the reasons why Atash and I began visiting the children at the University Rehabilitation Institute Soča. There, with the help of a qualified occupational therapist, we still perform therapies today.
