AAI – Animal Assisted Intervention
Animal Assisted Intervention is any kind of mediation which deliberately includes animals that meet specific criteria, as an integral part of the therapeutic process or as improvement of quality of the person’s life on any area.
It may be provided in a variety of settings and may be group or individual in nature. It is based on a positive interaction between the user, specially trained dog and the handler.
*Institute PET in their animal assisted interventions uses dogs only, so any subsequent use of the term ‘animal’ shall refer exclusively to dogs.
